Hi again, friends!
Now that the website is live and Maria's Reading Corner is officially open for visitors, I thought it was the perfect time to share a little behind-the-scenes peek into the latest Grizzie Adventure-Grizzie Goes to the County Fair!
This blog is where I'll be sharing the magic that happens between the pages-where ideas come from, how characters grow (and cause mischief), and the little heartwarming moments that make each story feel like a hug.
So grab a snack(unless Archie already got it), and let's dive into the world of fairs, friends, and one very dramatic cotton candy situation...
What Inspired the Fair Setting?
Truth? I love fairs. The lights, the sound, the rides, the sticky fingers from cotton candy...there's something nostalgic and magical about them-its part of summertime. I wanted a place where anything could happen-and where Archie the sneaky mouse could definitely stir up some trouble.
It felt like the perfect backdrop for a Grizzie-style adventure: big energy, lots of color, and plenty of opportunities for things to go hilariously wrong.
Let's talk about the Ferris wheel prank. I won't spoil too much, but let's just say Archie had his sneaky little paws all over this one! At one point I considered cutting the scene but it made me laugh so I had to keep it. Plus, seeing everyone tumble off the Ferris Wheel, ready to catch Archie in action? Iconic.
Welcome to the Gang Fiona
This book also marks the debut of a new character: a mysterious feline with a knack for the magical and a little bag that may or may not contain a magic ball. Let's just say the gang, wasn't expecting her-but now they can't imagine the fair without her.
(And yes, Fiona is inspired by a real life rescue with one ear smaller than the other and a wise little stare that says "So happy to have a family")
